He spent much of his life in Florence and Rome, creating universal masterpieces such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/curiosandofirenze.it\/en\/the-david\/\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"247\">David<\/b><\/a>, the marble statue that stands as the symbol of classical beauty and the city of Florence.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">Despite his immense success, Michelangelo had a difficult, reclusive, and often quick-tempered character, which reflected his constant inner turmoil and his pursuit of perfection. Among his most significant works are the frescoes of the <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"237\">Sistine Chapel<\/b> in the Vatican, the <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"272\">Piet\u00e0<\/b>, the <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"283\">Moses<\/b>, and the design of <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"308\">St. Peter&#8217;s Dome<\/b>.
