Panerai &amp; C.<\/b> is a world-famous watch company that originated in Florence. The business began in 1860, when Giovanni Panerai opened his first shop on <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"152\">Ponte alle Grazie<\/b>. Later, the watchmaker moved to its current location in <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"226\">Piazza San Giovanni<\/b>, directly in front of the Baptistery. During this period, the shop took the name &#8220;<i data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"328\">Orologeria Svizzera<\/i>&#8221; (Swiss Watchmaker) to emphasize the high quality of its products.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">The company became very important thanks to its collaboration with the <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"71\">Italian Royal Navy<\/b>. Soldiers needed instruments that were precise and readable underwater in the dark. For this reason, Panerai invented two special materials. In 1916, he patented <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"252\">Radiomir<\/b>, a luminous powder that made watch dials visible at night. In 1949, the company created <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"349\">Luminor<\/b>, a new, less radioactive material that gave its name to a very famous watch model.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">In 1972, the company changed its name to &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.panerai.com\/it\/it\/home.html?&amp;utm_source=google&amp;utm_source_platform=SA360&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=A-PANHQ-IT-IT-BRAND_PURE_EXACT-PROL-FY26-WAT-MTC-SN-AUC-PU-LXA-GG-BR-RIC5GNO8GI8&amp;utm_id=1694162385&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=1694162385&amp;gbraid=0AAAAADu9YmtpQuPS3_dmXTJ-Hl4bOn_3N&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiAnJHMBhDAARIsABr7b84L-geSgYx8JzE18A6zsoSItQGGV5zHtsskxPG3IKIQulNVs6gs3nMaAloxEALw_wcB\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"42\">Officine Panerai<\/b><\/a>.&#8221; In 1997, the Richemont Group acquired the brand and began selling the watches worldwide. Today, Panerai has a vast number of enthusiasts and collectors known as &#8220;<b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"223\">Paneristi<\/b>.&#8221; These collectors search everywhere for the brand&#8217;s limited and special editions.
